Mechanical sight for Seestar S50

Simple and effective manual aiming

The mechanical sight was designed to make it easier to manually point the Seestar S50 towards a visible target. It is especially useful when automatic pointing is difficult, or simply to orient the Seestar quickly before using the app.

How it works

Look through both sighting points and align them with the target. Once it is centred in both openings, the Seestar is approximately pointed towards it.

  • Moon
  • A sufficiently visible star or planet
  • Building, steeple or other distant landmark
Sun: use only with the appropriate solar filter installed on the Seestar.

3D printing

  • PLA or PETG
  • Layer height: 0.20 mm
  • Infill: 15–20%
  • Supports: none
  • Two parts, printable without supports

Assembly

After printing, insert the small stop into the slot at the front of the sight. The fit holds it in place; a tiny drop of glue can be added to secure it. The stop also prevents the sight from sliding when the S50 head is tilted.

No modification of the Seestar is required. Designed and tested on Seestar S50.
