The story of NightAstro
NightAstro is an independent project created by Thierry LEPLA to answer a very simple question: with the sky I have tonight, what is really worth imaging?
Plan a night, simply
NightAstro combines the date, location, weather, the Moon, target altitude, your actually accessible horizon, available time and the characteristics of the selected smart telescope. The aim is to turn all this information into practical choices: which target to image, when, with which filter, for how long, and with or without a mosaic.
A project that will evolve
The site was initially designed around the Seestar community, then expanded to other smart telescopes. A future “My sky” feature is intended to let users keep their own captures, build a personal catalogue and share their results by target and instrument.
Independent of manufacturers
NightAstro is not affiliated with any manufacturer. Recommendations are designed to help the user, regardless of which compatible model is used.
Support NightAstro
NightAstro is free and ad-free. Hosting and weather data have a cost. If the tool is useful to you, you can support it.
